We created this “Challenge Your Thoughts” free CBT worksheet to help you practice challenging the thoughts you are noticing after our last post!
In previous posts, we’ve discussed the Notice-Challenge-Change process. We discussed the importance of recognizing and naming a problem before it can be changed. Then we touched on the value of noticing our thoughts in order to start the process to change them. In our previous post , we shared a video that walked you through how to use the Challenge Your Thoughts Worksheet , so please refer back to that to help you use this worksheet effectively!
In the challenging phase we need to give ourselves permission to examine our thoughts and our behaviours and look at them with a bit of curiosity and interest. Remember, just because we think it
does not mean that it is true and there may be a better and more flexible way to think about something. In the same way, just because we are doing something and have done it that way for a long time, doesn’t mean that we have to keep doing it that way. We can get curious and challenge ourselves!
As you use the worksheet, you’ll ask yourself different questions about the thought you’re having and use those to practice challenging your thoughts.
