We were so pleased with the response to the call to the community for donations for the Saugeen First Nation! Qualia Counselling is passionate about providing first nations counselling services and indigenous counselling services locally and across Ontario.
Maawandoonan is an Ojibway word meaning “to bring them together”. We are happy to share a recent project that brought people together to help others in need!
While Ontario comes out of lockdown, some communities are still struggling and suffering from COVID-19 outbreaks, like Saugeen First Nation.
Spearheaded by Dufferin Circle we at Qualia had a beautiful opportunity to come together with many community partners and deliver nearly $16,000 in cash and gift card donations as well as a BUS load and more of donations to Saugeen First Nation.
Qualia, wanting to also feed the spirits of Saugeen community members sent nearly 100 traditional medicine / smudge kits to Saugeen First Nation, created by donations contributed by Tribal Trade. (see photo of kit below)
Big donations in money, gift cards, food and diapers and volunteers, as well as what was lovingly called the Magic School Bus came from the Barrie & Kitchener Ontario Stakes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, The Parish of the Blue Mountains Anglican church, Martin Luther University College, LSPIRG Waterloo, Anishnabeg Outreach, and First Student Canada bus lines.
Saugeen First Nation’s dedicated team from Mini Bimaadsawin is delivering the grocery boxes daily to community members in need.
Thank you to everyone who donated, dropped items off, volunteered and made this quick turn around happen!!
