We at Qualia believe in offering world class psychotherapy and mental health services, and know that with the science that supports Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, this is how we can change the world, one person and professional at a time.  Because of our use of CBT we have seen real results within the practice and lives of ourselves and others, and want psychotherapists and other allied health and mental health professionals to be able to help others in the same way.

Professional Leadership

In alignment with our mission Qualia has developed a rigorous Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Certificate program, which we offer in conjunction with Wilfred Laurier University. In addition to the CBT Certificate program, we also offer CBT 2 Day Workshops and a variety of Community Presentations. If you are interested in having us provide your team with an inservice presentation about our services, or a free community workshop please contact Charity at charity@qualiacounselling.com.

Certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (Level 1 and Level 2)

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The CBT certificate is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of one of the most prevalent and effective forms of psychotherapy in the marketplace today. A highly structured and concrete therapy, CBT will introduce its’ Level 1 students to a set of skills that are highly tactical and that can be brought to clinical practice within the first week. In Level 2, students will learn to use those skills and interventions within the world of mental health and DSM-5 disorders. Over the two levels, students will experience an increase in their knowledge through training, will increase their practical skills within their professional interactions, and will become able to competently bring this powerful therapeutic model to their helping context. Clinical Supervision

Qualia offers the opportunity to receive clinical supervision to the KW and Brant communities of psychotherapists. This is a formal, supervisory relationship that has as its goal the development of clinical skills for the Supervisee, as directed by the Supervisor. Methods such as taping sessions, reflective observation, verbatims and process recordings are used. Supervision format can be as frequent as is wished by the Supervisee, and where recommendations are given by the Supervisor based on current skill level, career aspirations and previous training.

McMaster Residency “CBT Immersion” Module

Throughout the year, Qualia offers a 4 week “CBT immersion” experience for learners within the Michael G DeGroote School of Medicine Residency Program. Topics cover small-scale CBT interventions that might be used in medical interviews, as well as orientation to the nature of the CBT paradigm alongside of medical care for emotionally distressed Patients.

Clinician Internship

On a case-by-case nature, Qualia will at times accept Masters level student interns. The ability to accept an intern is based on our current business demands, ability to supervise a student given our current resources, and the potential we believe we see in prospective Interns to eventually work within our company. Interns are generally trained to join our team upon completion of their internship, in one of our areas of clinical practice (children and youth, adults, etc). Interested parties should send their resume and covering letter, that gives a description of career ambitions and areas of clinical interest, to: brandon@qualiacounselling.com
